Welcome to 7th grade. This year you have a LOT to look forward to. As far as your Social Studies class is concerned, it is going to be quite an interesting year. We cover a wide range of history-everything from our rebellion against Britain through the trails and tribulations of the Civil War! Some of our topics will look familiar to you. Others will be completely new. A brief list of what we will cover is located below.

Early Republic (Problems facing the new nation and the growth of the United States into a world power)
Westward Expansion (Daniel Boone, Lewis, Clark & the Corp of Discovery, Oregon, Texas, Gold in California, and much more!)
Industrial Revolution & Internal Improvements (How we evolved from an agricultural to industrial economy and how improvements in technology and transportation shaped our nation)
Immigration (A brief history of U.S. immigration from colonization through 1900)
Theme Three: Reform and Division
Slavery and the rise of sectionalism (Background to the Civil War)
The Civil War
Reconstruction (Reuniting the nation after the horrors of war)
